Transportation

St. Moritz is situated in the Engadine Valley at 1856 meters altitude. It is the birth place of Alpine winter tourism dating back to 1864 and winter sports took its baby steps here in 1884. It has hosted two Olympic Games and numerous ski and bob world cups. St. Moritz is a long-standing destination among the jet set so keep your eyes open if you want to do some star spotting.

Tickets can be purchased at any station and at Zurich Airport. This trip will take you along Lake Zurich and the Walensee into the Grisons wine country and then through the Alps on the Albula/Bernina line that is part of the UNESCO World Heritage to the pictures Upper Engadine Valley.

Car

Arriving from Zurich take the A13 as far as Thusis and cross the Julier Pass. Alternately put the car on the rail ferry in Selfranga (Klosters) to Saglians and then drive up the Engadine Valley to St. Moritz. Please bear in mind that this is the heart of the Alps - please ensure you have a winter proof car and a driver who knows how to use it.
